Wu Mengcheng (Windy)
GRADUATE STUDENT
B.S. in Chemistry, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Mengcheng Wu, aka. Windy, is a student in the Chemistry (chemical biology) option. Originally from China, he finished high school in Connecticut and then moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to get his B. S. in Chemistry (and almost dual majored in English). His undergraduate research focused on imaging lithium ions during the charging/discharging of common battery material LiCoO3. As his undergraduate progressed, his interest gradually shifted to biology, so he chose to go into chemical biology program in graduate school. In Chou lab, his project focuses on how different mutations of p97 might affect p97-cofactor interactions and how such shifts of interactions can cause disease. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing (in a gym), skiing, driving, feeding and dancing with his cats.
