Dr. Lai Chai Foong (Vivian)

Chai Foong, originally from Malaysia. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Tunku Abdul Rahman University in Malaysia and also conducted research on the antiviral activity of local plants against the chikungunya virus in Dr. Sit Nam Weng group. Subsequently, she relocated to Taiwan to pursue a Master's degree in Immunology in National Cheng Kung University. She then embarked on a Ph.D. program at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Thimois Mitsiadis. Her Ph.D. research focused on the regulation of stem cells and their niches in response to dental injuries and development. In Chou lab, her project focused on p97 nuclear trafficking and also, how ageing affect the function of p97 in neurodegenerative disease.
